Shri Ratan Sharma, S/o Late Shri Satya Narayan Sharma, aged about 44 years, R/o Assam Ispat Complex, 6th Floor, N. S. Road, Fatasil, Guwahati-781009, Assam is a reputed industrialist of North East India. He holds a high level of recognition in the business community of North – Eastern states. He has an enviable track record of implementing and running various industrial projects. His main thrust, so far, has been Iron & Steel Industry. He has now also ventured into the hospitality industry and has acquired the legendry Hotel Belle Vue at Guwahati, besides this, he also has interest in various Hotels & Resorts in Guwahati, Tinsukia, Jaipur & Kishangarh. Sri Sharma is the group head and a first generation entrepreneur who has risen from modest background. Starting his career as a scrap trader, he has in the last 17 years set up manufacturing units in Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Silvasa besides, Arunanchal Pradesh.

His first venture in 1996 was a small rolling mill namely M/s Pashupati Rolling Mills (P) Ltd, in association with a friend. He thereafter promoted M/s Satyam Steels and Alloys (P) Ltd. and Satya Megha Ispat (P) Ltd, in association with his partner Mr. Purushottam Murarka, in Meghalaya. Mr. Sharma along with his business partners were amongst the first to set up a Ferro alloys unit in Arunachal Pradesh.

The unit M/s SMS Smelters Limited was set up in face of heavy odds and poor power position in Arunachal Pradesh. The unit is successfully operating and has created record of sorts so far as availability of power is concerned. His first solo family venture was also in the state of Arunachal Pradesh by the name and style Satyam Ispat a partnership firm which was set up in 2004.

Sri Sharma is the Managing Director of Satyam Ispat (North East) Limited which is the largest integrated Steel plant in the North East Region manufacturing M.S Billets, TMT Bars & Rods having its factory at Banderdewa, Arunachal Pradesh. Sri Sharma also has the distinction of setting up and successfully running the first industrial unit in the state of Manipur. Satyam Industries, a steel plant was conceived by Sri Sharma and completed in record time. The unit is now operational and has opened new vistas for the insurgency ridden state of Manipur. In the year 2007 Sri Sharma also acquired controlling stake in National Mining Company. National Mining Company is primarily engaged in coal mining on behalf of Arunachal Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation, within the state of Arunachal Pradesh. In fact it was with the initiative of National Mining Company that coal mines were discovered and developed in Arunachal Pradesh.

A great visionary Sri Ratan Sharma also has unique qualities of winning over people with his simplistic attitude and charm. He is at ease in working with people and it is because of this quality of his he has almost 50 partners associated with various businesses across the length and breadth of the country.

The contribution of Sri Sharma for the growth of industry in North Eastern India and the society at large has been widely recognized. He has been awarded and felicitated by various organization and groups. Recently DY 365 – a TV channel from North East India awarded Sri Sharma with the Young Entrepreneur award, first of its kind to be announced by them.

Besides being a successful Industrialist and Entrepreneur Sri Sharma is a great philanthropist. He has made innumerable contributions to various trusts, social bodies, dharamshalas, NGOs, temples and other charitable organizations. He is the President of All India Vipro Foundation.
