About Indian Geotechnical Society - IGS Ahmedabad Chapter in IITGN PALAJ, Gandhinagar

The scope of Geotechnical Engineering has expanded significantly in the last 30 years whereas the coverage of geotechnical engineering in the curriculum is limited to two core subjects and a maximum of two electives in some Institutions and colleges. The syllabus is restricted and as a result, many students are not exposed to the wide coverage of current trends and exciting opportunities for professional/teaching/research in geotechnical engineering. There is a need to motivate students to give exposure to careers and opportunities in this area and also develop leadership skills among students which will help them in their career. IGS chapter of AHMEDABAD will provide an opportunity for students of 2nd, 3rd and 4th year Civil Engineering and Mtech students, research scholars to interact with well known professors of IISC, IITs and NITs as well as with goverment officials and practitioners.
