About Immaculate Conception Church - Dombivli Parish in Immaculate Conception Church Near Regency Estate, Dawadi Road, Sonar Pada M.I.D.C Dombivli East, Maharashtra 421202, Dombivli

With the blessings of Pope John Paul II on April 30th 1988 Kalyan Diocese was established for the Syro Malabar Catholics. The Immaculate Conception Church in Dombivli is the first parish in the Kalyan Diocese. Now it is a parish for nearly 550 families living in and around Dombivli and Thakurli. The foundation stone for Immaculate Conception Church (Amalalayam), MIDC Dombivli was laid by H.E. Mar Paul Chitilappilly, Bishop of Kalyan Diocese on 30th March 1990 and it was consecrated on Dec 8th 1991.

The beginning of this parish was very simple, in a flat in Ambika Palace CHS, near railway station, Dombivli East. First Vicar of the church Rev. Fr George Edakalathur and all the other Vicars who followed after him along with parishners put in tremendous effort and worked hand in hand for growth in all levels. Slowly and steadily various associations came into existence like Parish Council, Catechism classes, Mathrusangam, Key, Alter servers, Prayer Group and Pithruvedi.

Due to the inconveniences and lack of space of the existing Prayer Hall, it was decided to have a new church building which would be more spacious to carry on with the various activities collectively. Among all the necessities which a human would look for is to having a luxurious house providing all comforts and amenities, but for a Catholic the most important thing he / she would seek for is a CHURCH because only GOD is THE ALL for every Catholic Individual.

On 30th March 1990 foundation stone was laid for Immaculate Conception Church, (Amlalayam) Dombivli and it was consecrated on December 8th 1991 by H.E Mar Paul Chitilappily. This became the heart of the Parish catering to various sacramental and spiritual needs of Parishners. From here on we started growing in a more organized manner in various aspects. Being residential area and due to some unavoidable circumstances we were left with no option but to look for a new place with more space and additional facility to cater to all our Christian needs both Spiritual and Social.

The Year 2007 saw a new era in the History of this parish with Purchase of Land at Dawdi and construction activity taking off in 2009 with Foundation stone being laid on 8th May 2009. The Consecration of the Immaculate Conception Church by the Hands of H.E. Mar Thomas Elavanal took place on 8th Dec 2009 with completion of the Church area.

The second phase of construction which was pending for the Priests residence and Community Hall was yet to start, with Rev. Fr. Biju Mannamcheril taking charge in Jun 2014 the committee was revived by the General Body with Authority to carry out the completion of the Church Building second Phase. The work began In feb 2015 with target to have it completed by 15th Aug 2015. The blessing ceremony of the second phase of Church building along with Priest residence and Community Hall was done by the hands of H.E. Mar Thomas Elavanal, Bishop of Kalyan Diocese.

Today we are recognized in and around Mumbai and Suburbs for this divine Blessing of Church and the facility. The heavenly gift of significant value being raised up in a short span of 8 years. This is a credit from Heavanly Presence which stays with us now and forever.
