A Dogged Pursuit
Stray animals, especially dogs, are always seen as a menace to the humans. While it's important to get rid of them, it needs to be done with a humane and scientific approach.
There are various ways to ensure that community dogs (strays) are eliminated over a period of time without restoring to killing and any such cruel methods. It needs a holistic approach.
These community dogs as shown in the picture get a dose of community living. A certain degree of domestication is the first step to reduce man–animal conflict. Most of the dogs (bitches) were given birth control pills during the onset of oestrus with hundred percent success rate over the last five years.
Population control through non-invasive methods is quite helpful in the absence of any organized structure and dearth of funds for the classical method of castration.
Also, an awareness campaign (Do's & Don’ts while dealing with strays) is of utmost importance.
The Bagchi couple has been spearheading a campaign to achieve these objectives. After all, dogs too have a right to life!
