About Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies in Kovilpalayam,sathy road, Coimbatore

VIVEKANANDA INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES promoted by a group of professionals and run by Coimbatore Education Foundation, is an emerging stand alone B-School with an avowed goal of achieving human excellence by means of Academic and Allied programmes.

VIMS got approval by AICTE and commences its functioning in the Academic year 2012-2013 in the state of the art campus at Kovilpalayam,S.S.Kulam Post(sathy road),Coimbatore-641107.

The Management dedicates the Institute to the Nation on the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda to transform the youth of India into a potent knowledge power.

In the horizon of contemporary management education, one can visualize the emergence of great opportunities and formidable challenges. The fact that the national economy is triggered into the trajectory of growth, never witnessed before, the emerging economic regime has galvanized the need for management graduates to man the corporate as well as SMEs. This leaves a large gap in the supply of professional managers providing a great opportunity for the aspiring youth who want to pursue management education.

At the same time the deficiency syndrome in respect of quality, employability and the skill set of management graduates pose a formidable challenge. As such the competency and employability of management graduates will have to be enhanced and fine tuned. The B-schools by and large have to prepare themselves to fill this quality gap and meet the industry expectation.

Learning management concepts and techniques per se is not enough; the success lies in translating knowledge into wisdom by applying the same to real world situation and problems. Methodologies in teaching should be devised in such a way that the real-world experiences are brought into class-room situation. Case studies relevant to Indian environment will be more realistic.

Yet another deficiency is the need to change the ethical make up of the mindset of management students so that they are able to appreciate the ethical values and integrate such aspects with the decision-making process.
