About Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in 31 Fourth Cross Street, RK Nagar, Mandaveli, Chennai

The Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram was founded by TKV Desikachar, son and student of T Krishnamacharya in 1976. Starting his career as an engineer, TKV Desikachar was inspired by his father's teachings and became his student in the 1960's. He studied with Krishnamacharya for over thirty years. Today, TKV Desikachar is known and respected the world over as an authority on yoga. The Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram founded by him as a tribute to his father and mentor, is a Public Charitable Trust, recognised by the Health and Family welfare Ministry, Government fo India.

Since its inception, the KYM has always stood for quality teaching respecting the needs, interests, abilities and secular faiths of its students. The KYM has played a significant role in popularizing yoga as a holistic science that stems from a well founded theoretical basis, rather than as mere exercises for physical fitness. The focus of all activities at the KYM is that anyone who wants to can practice yoga, that is specifically suited to his or her needs, and experience its multiple benefits.

Kym is also recognised By the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), New Delhi, as one of the Premier Yoga centres in the country.
