About C.S.I Holy Trinity Church, korattur in central avenue, Chennai

The Sub-urban Evangelical Mission was started in Villivakkam by Mr. A. N. Joseph who was a member of St. Paul's Church, in the years 1955.

When he founded Britannia High School at Padi, he also started the Padi church with the association of three family members and as a result St. Michael's Church at Padi was constructed.

The TamilNadu Housing Board started the korattur town planning in 1971. In 1973 four Christian family members migrated to korattur and settled down in LIG-5 apartments. Mr. A. N. Joseph was able to envisage not only how the above four families could be united but what was required by them to worship the Lord together. These members began to worship at Flat L-5 in the second week of September, 1973 as a small congregation.

It enchanted other Christian families that were living in other parts of korattur. Since Flat L-5 could not accommodate the new members, they decided to shift the place of worship top first floor of Mr. Poonusamy and they were conducting their worship on every Sunday morning and evening. In course of time the services were conducted in the house of Mr. Thanasingh Peter and in 1975 it was conducted at Mr. Johnson's Residence.

The present land on which our church stands was allotted by TamilNadu housing board for the purpose of constructing the church in May 1977. In the same year, on October 16th, a thatched shed was erected and was consecrated. With the tireless efforts of the local congregation and with the support of the Well-wishers the church building constructed and the same was consecrated on 23rd December, 1984 by Rt. Rev. Sunder Clarke.

In 1993 the adjoining piece of land measuring 2½ grounds was acquired by the church and it was annexed with the church property. There after the church building was extended and the congregations generously donate the items such as pulpit, lectern, PA system, Electric organ Etc., for the Glory of God. Since 1978 other activities such as Sunday school, Women's Fellowship, Youth Fellowship, Outreach Children Ministry, and House maids Ministry are regularly conducted in our church every week. VBS is one of the glorifying activities of our church during summer vacation which accommodates non Christian children apart from our children.

Then Men's fellowship functions since 2009. The church caters to the needs of the congregation through Hannah Ministry, Bethesda Ministry and Good Samaritan Ministry. The Members of the above ministries gather in the church every week and pray, visit patients in various hospitals and extend their helping hand to the bereaved family members. Our Church conducts night school for the benefit of the poor and needy children in and around korattur with the help of teacher – members and volunteers of the church.

All night prayer is conducted on first Friday of every month. During the Lantern Season the church will be kept open in the day time and meditation is conducted between 12.30 and 1.00 PM. The Church had Purchased 15 cents of land and donated it to the Salavankuppam believers for the purpose of constructing a church there. We had also constructed church buildings at Mosur, Pitchuvakkam, Pettaimedu villages which are within the jurisdiction of Madras Diocese. At present efforts are being taken to construct a church at Pandesvaram Village.

New Families are migrated to korattur and they are enrolling themselves as new members. The congregation is growing day by day and the church building has to be expanded in the near future. We fervently pray to our Good Lord to meet our needs.

There is an impending need to expand and construct the sexton's residence. Many gentiles have come to the fold of Jesus Christ and they have proclaimed their faith by way of baptism and have enrolled as members of our church. 'Korattur is for Christ' Ministry was initiated by the church and the members of the church used to visit the korattur residents in every location soon after the Good Friday Service was over. This ministry is carried on during every fourth Sunday. There is an impending need to expand and construct the sexton's residence.
