An imposing Rajula Stone structure, rising on richly carved pillars and set in 40,000 sq.ft of lawn and garden, The Nilambagh Palace was built up by a German Architect Mr. Sims in 1859 as the Royal Residence of His Highness Sir. Takhatsinghji of Bhavnagar. In 1984, the late Maharaja Dr.Virbhadra Singhji converted the Royal residence into the Hotel to serve as a haven for tourists. The only Heritage classified property in the city, Nilambagh Palace Hotel is a member of Heritage Hotels Association.
