About Barrackpore Mayukh Natya Sanstha in 109(59), S.N. Banerjee Road, Near Sukanta Sadan, Barrackpore

“Barrrackpore Mayukh Natya Sanstha” was founded at Barrackpore in 1980 at the initiative of a few theater lovers and enthusiasts in cultural activities with a view to enrich the “Art of Theater” with a promise “Bhalo kore Bhalo natok korte chai”. The group has so produced seven full length drama of Eminent Natyakar and more than twenty four one act drama and street drama in and outside Kolkata. The group has organized drama festival every year and many educative, cultural seminars and workshops on theater in association with Natya Academy, Govt. of West Bengal. The major production of the group which have added feathers to its cap are “SANGHAT” of Manik Bandyapadhyay, “PANCHU PELO LOTARI” of Sambhu mitra, “KESHTOPADA-O- KESHTOPADA” of Dr. Bibek Brata Das, “ITYADIR ITIKATHA” of Himanshu chattopadhyay. Among one act drama “AMRITA ATIT” and “KHABAR DILEI LAKH TAKA” of Manmatha Roy, “SADGATI” of Prem Chandar, “CELL PHONE” of Mohit Chattopadhyay and street drama “AJKE AMAR CHUTI” of Utpal Dutta and many more and bagged awards and honours. The group has its own space of rehearsal and office at 109(59), S.N. Banerjee Road, Near Sukanta Sadan, Barrackpore, Kolkata-700120. The group also worked with “Sishu Shilpi” and produce drama like “GALPO KHELAR SAMOY TO NEI” and “RABINDRA JAYANTI”. Group has celebrated its 29th international festival named as “GANGA BURI GANGA NATYA UTSAV” with a team of Dhaka Bangladesh.
