Kerala is acclaimed as God’s own country, but in a wider sense, it is Art’s own country too. With an enviable tradition of numerous art forms, Kerala presents as distinctive charm to its varied cultural life. No one who visits this land can return home, without an impression on his mind and soul of this singular charm, deep rooted in the life and culture of the Keralites. This distinctive character of the Kerala society is nurtured to a considerable extent, through the popularization and enrichment of local art forms.

Thanks to the pioneering efforts made by the first elected Chief Minister of united Kerala, Sri.E.M.S. Namboothiripad, his ministry realized the need to establish a government agency for the encouragement, preservation and documentation of the rich legacy of the varied art forms of the state. Consequently, the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi (KSNA) was formally inaugurated by the first Prime Minister of Independent India Pandit JawaharlalNehru on 26th April 1958.

The society of Kerala is unique in its geographical presence. Keralites are present in every corner of the world continuously engaging with exciting opportunities in global professional and business opportunities. Regardless of the socio-political and geographical variances of their locations, they persistently keep an active relation with the home land. They gather to rejoice occasions like Onam, Christmas and Ramadan with a distinctive display of cultural consciences. Upholding this uniqueness of the cultural connection among non-resident Keralites, the KSNA initiated regional cultural forums to link the entire Malayali population of the globe.

At a time, the KSNA is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee, the newly formed South Zone Cultural Committee is entering its active activities. This committee is to coordinate and organize cultural activities of KSNA in all south Indian states except Kerala. The academi has decided to conduct a large cultural get together and amateur drama competition at Ravindra Kalakshetra in Bangalore on 4th and 5th of November 2017. The event is organized in association with Kerala Sahitya Academy, Malayalam Mission and Cultural department of Kerala Government.
