About Global School of Open Learning in SABC Campus, Hennur - Bagalur Main Road, Kothanur Post, Bangalore

With an insight to the challenges of the new age, the SABC board and administration proposed to reach out to the learners, in the most flexible manner possible, in order to achieve its mission. Thus began the South Asia Centre for Research in Education and Development (SACRED) Department of SABC which was later to be recognised as the Distance Learning Department.

SABC’s Distance Learning Department started in the year 2002 by offering Master of Divinity (Integrative) programme. This programme draws the strength of both Distance Education and the Regular College System. In the year 2003, the D.L. Department (as it was known earlier) started offering the full-fledged Distance Learning Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) programme. Later in 2005, the D.L. Department commenced the Master of Divinity programme through distance learning mode.

The Distance Learning Department was able to extent its reach beyond the boundaries of SABC and India in a very effective manner. Considering this growth and its potential, the board of directors of CGLD decided to make room for the growth by seperating the department from SABC and giving it an independent status under CGLD – making the Distance Learning Department, Global School of Open Learning (GSOL).
