The Brief history and Main objectives of the Society

The society is a registered society under Society Registration Act, 1860. The society is also a Registered Public Trust under Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. The society was established in the year 1983 by the various organisation like Amul, NDDB, GCMMF, Charotar Arogya Mandal, Elecon Engg. Co. Ltd, IRMA and Member unions of GCMMF to promote and improve the Environment of the society in general. Also to improve the surrounding environment of the organisation premises in specific. The first general body meeting adopted the Memorandum and Article of Association with the following major objectives :-

1. To undertake activities necessary for providing the clean environment to society as a whole and to increase the facilities to have better environment and to give necessary guidance and assistance to the members / others to carry out these activities.

2. To undertake programs in environmental extension aimed at improving the health of the people.

3. To provide services for the testing of the water, air, sewage etc.

4. To provide services to its members and others for protecting the environment.

5. To provide services for tree plantation etc.

6. To provide sanitation and other services for the maintenance of clean environment.

7. To provide horticultural services for putting the lawns, ornamental plants and their maintenance.

8. To conduct research and study of water, sewage, air and ecological balances, contribute to its funds and raise funds for the same.

9. To provide training and educational services for the study of the environment and its protection.

10. To maintain nurseries and orchards.

To fulfill the above objectives, GESS has takenup various activities such as gardening, Solid waste management, Sanitation and cleaning, Tree plantation, wormicompost mannure, Training of gardeners and for conservation water.
