Drawing inspiration from the simple village traditions of India and Bangladesh, Vastra Kuttim abandons the mass production of synthetic sarees and helps connect hand weavers across the subcontinent to a global audience.

We bring you the finest silk saris directly from weavers in Benaras (Varanasi), while original Kanjeevarum designs are sourced from Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu and the weavers of Andhra Pradesh produce the glamorous Zari Gadwal.

Our links with Eastern Indian and Bangladeshi weavers are a century old and this is reflected in the variety of hand woven styles on offer. The fine muslin of the Jaamdani weave from Dhaka, the simple ‘ikkat’ (tye-dye) of Orrisa’s Sambalpuri sari andthe elegant Assam silk, Saulkuchi, are just some of the styles we offer.

Our aim is to provide our customers with a unique expression of regional tradition (each saree is only woven once) while helping to provide sustainable employment of hundreds of weavers across the subcontinent.
