Kindergarten is a pre-school educational approach. It is a transition from home to school for a child of 3 to 5 years. Hence it must be based on playing, singing, physical and mental activities, drawing and exploration of the environment.

It is important that the child's psychological, physical and social development is taken care of in designing the curriculum of the course. So the books for this course must contain information for the senses, activities that will develop a child's language skills, cognitive skills and other mental faculties like learning basic mathematical concepts etc.,. As the child at this age has an absorbent and sensitive mind, we have focused on activities that will stimulate the child's unique talent of effortlessly assimilating the stimuli through the senses.

The books have been structured to suit the little children. A child at this age is attracted by melody. Hence rhymes in English, Tamil have been included for stimulating the child's artistic expression colouring of pictures drawn y the child himself or herself by linking a pattern of numbers or letters has been included.

To satisfy the child's curiosity about the nature and environment much information (general knowledge) has been presented. (For example, Names of fruits, Parts of Plants, Parts of human-body, Modes of Travel etc.) To improve their cognitive skills, various shapes found in nature find a place. Separate drawing and colouring activity pages have also been included. To improve the muscular development of the little child, strokes are introduced before the letters and numbers. Thus you will find that at the end of these two years of schooling the child will know the alphabets in English, Tamil and Hindi and also how to pronounce the alphabets and simple words. She/he would be able to count numbers in proper sequence and also be able to distinguish numbers between shapes, the size of things etc.,. He/ She will have an idea about the environment and the society around.

Teachers are requested to narrate the stories in English, Tamil and Hindi to the children to help them understand better.

Some interesting stories, pictorial or otherwise have been added here and these will make learning experience more exciting. Any suggestions for improvement are welcome.
