About Government Degree College Beerwah Kashmir in Beerwah, Badgam

Established in 2005 the College started functioning in a few rooms of the District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIET) building with only four subjects to offer to its students. However, with extra ordinary commitment and dedication demonstrated by its small band of teachers and the whole hearted support it received from the society, the College has now become main centre of learning in Tehsil Beerwah. The present campus of the College, where it is functioning since May 2010, is indeed located in the lap of nature, with a picturesque view, on the right side of the Beerwah-Kangripora road, overlooking the main town. The place is away from the hustle and bustle of the town, offering a very peaceful and calm surrounding to the students to explore and improve their capabilities. The campus has an area of 58.07 Kanals with a two story building with state-of-art facilities. The institute is progressing by leaps and bounds under the able guidance of the worthy Principal, and whole hearted support of the Government in the process of infrastructural development to provide better facilities to the students. The College is affiliated to the University of Kashmir since its inception in 2005 and has received permanent affiliation status with effect from 2010. The University Grants Commission, New Delhi vide its communication No. F.No.8-246/2007 (CPP-I/C) dated 30th August, 2010 has included the College in its list of colleges under section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956. The College has started receiving grants from the UGC under various developmental schemes of academic and infrastructural nature. The College is fully prepared to take its task of catering to the educational needs of the area, particularly of those who aspire to seek admission in this session, with a good variety of subjects including Science, Computers, Commerce, Social Sciences and languages. College is in the process of enriching its Library, Laboratories and I. T. services. A good number of computers and other related material has already been procured. Keeping in view the need of uninterrupted electric supply the college has recently procured Diesel Generator facility in order to keep different electricity dependent facilities running during the long periods of electric load shedding.
